SECL pumps in ₹1,457 crores in mining machinery technology to ramp up production

Several new initiates to ensure safety also undertaken by SECL

Bilaspur, August 27: Coal India Ltd (CIL)’s largest subsidiary, the South Eastern Coalfields Ltd (SECL) said on Wednesday, 26th August, that it is planning to upgrade up its mining technology and for that it has pumped in ₹1,457 crore to ramp up production.
SECL has procured a large number of heavy mining machinery to deploy in its key mines like Gevra, Kushmunda and Dipka to increase its output, while also adding two new mines in Chhattisgarh, Bijari Open Cast in Raigarh and Jagannathpur Open Cast in Bhatgaon, in the FY 2019-20, to boost its production.
The Coal India subsidiary said that it has also undertaken several new initiatives during the last financial year to ensure safety like deployment of new fire tenders, hydraulic ladders and rescue vans, with also an additional installation of an environment tele-monitoring system in 10 underground mines.
SECL produced 150.50 MT of coal during FY 2019-20, accounting for over 25% of CIL’s total production.
