The offtake is lagging behind the target by 24% and is even less than last year’s performance by about 16% so far during the current fiscal year.
Bilaspur, August 26: The offtake plan of South Eastern Coalfields Ltd. (SECL) for the month of August 2020, has been set much below the asking rate for achieving the annual target of 183 million tonnes. However, in spite of having a substantial stock of 12.97 million tonnes and adequate demand, average daily offtake of SECL during the first 11 days of this month has been only 3.56 lakh tonnes.
Dispatch for the current fiscal year is more pitiable as only 3.37 lakh tonnes per day coal despatches against 4.01 lakh tonnes per day the same period last year.
The offtake is lagging behind the target by 24% and is even less than last year’s performance by about 16% so far during the current fiscal year.
It is pertinent to mention that there is no dearth of demand from power and non-power sector at SECL. Presently, SECL is carrying a sizable number of non-power arrear rakes (around 1860 numbers) and 28 numbers of power plants linked with SECL are still carrying stocks less than CERC norms as per the CEA report.
In the view of the unsatisfactory offtake performance, SECL has been requested to take steps to improve the loading and dispatch.
