The Board of Directors of Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL), which met here, has approved the construction of new quarters for employees of the company at the cost of 210 crore, as promised by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao in the past.
Chairman and Managing Director of N. The decision was announced by Sridhar at the 554th meeting of the Board of Directors. He said that the Chief Minister had made a promise of new quarters during a meeting in the Srirampur area.
The first phase of quarter construction had already been undertaken in the Sathupalli area and a decision had now been taken to construct 994 MD-type spacious quarters in the Bhupalpally area with the approval of the Board.
Another key decision at the Board meeting on Monday was to set up a new full-fledged environmental department with experts to implement environmental protection more effectively, to pursue environmental permits, clearances and other aspects in the future by replacing the existing department. The Board also welcomed the company’s plans to establish 300 megawatt solar power plants.
The Board was informed that tenders were requested for the first and second phases and that 10 MW plants had already been commissioned at the company’s thermal power plant in Pegadapalli, Mancherial district.
Work on the start-up of solar power plants in Yellandu and Manuguru would also soon be completed and tenders would soon be finalized for the third phase.
In addition , the Board approved the extraction of 74 lakh cubic meters of coal from the Koyagudem OC2 mine in the Yellandu area and the removal of 1,416 lakh cubic meters of overload from Manuguru – PKOC over the next six years. The Board also approved the purchase of machinery to be used in open-cast mines and 1 441 crore cubic meters of overload for use in underground mines.
The budget of 45 crore for Polytechnic, Women, Junior, Graduate and Postgraduate Colleges and 9 high schools run by the Singareni Educational Society for 2020-21 has been approved.
The Board also welcomed three members of the Board – Special Chief Secretary (Energy) Ajay Misra, Directors S. Shankar (E&M) and B. Bhaskar Rao (P&P), who was present and retired at the end of the month to reach the age of superannuation.
