Power consumers in Jharkhand got several reliefs

Ranchi: Consumers of Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited today got big relief as the Jharkhand State Electricity Regulatory Commission (JSERC) today gave those many benefits.

Apart from not hiking tariff, abolishing meter rent of consumers and reducing delayed payment surcharge from 1.50 percent to 1 percent, the regulatory commission has given several reliefs which will be helpful for consumers suffering from losses due to corona pandemic.

Member (engineering) of JSERC R.N.Singh informed this to media sharing details of others relief given to the consumers.

Other benefits include one percent rebate for online payment and one percent rebate for payment before due date, no miscellaneous charge to be levied besides, 3 percent voltage rebate (VR) for 33 kV, 5 percent VR for 132 kV, 5.5 percent VR for 22OKV and 6 percent VR for 440 KV line.

Some other benefits included abolishment of unmetered category, linking of fixed charge recovery to number of hours of power supplied, which will be 23 hours for HT consumers and 21 hours for LT consumers.

To encourage and promote rooftop solar, the Commission has maintained a very lucrative tariff for rooftop solar PV projects for gross metering at Rs. 4.16/kWh and net metering at Rs. 3.80/kWh. Apart from this rebate of 3% for switching to prepaid metering has been given.

Other benefits include rebate of 1%, maximum up to 3% on bill amount, in case billing is not served for 2 consecutive months. Load inspection in case of metered LT-DS (low tension domestic service) has been cleared irrelevant and unnecessary and in this way the consumers have been given freedom from Inspector Raj .

The order will be effective from October 1.
