following release of 2nd tranche disbursements under DISCOM liquidity package by PFC & REC. As per the data available so far at PRAAPTI portal, the overdues to Central and Private sector generators at pan India level reduced by Rs. 9,500 crore to Rs. 79,300 crore in March 2021, compared to the previous month. The PRAAPTI portal captures monthly invoicing data from power generators, which is uploaded on the PRAAPTI portal by the power generators themselves.
The overdue amount as a multiple of average monthly billing also showed a marked improvement – from 5.1 times in February, to 4.6 times in March, 2021. Among individual states Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Bihar and Manipur have improved their overdue position compared to February, 2021.
It is noteworthy that a Liquidity Infusion scheme was announced last financial year under the Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan, to help DISCOMs liquidate their outstanding dues to CPSU Gencos, Transcos, IPPs and RE generators, as existing on 30.06.2020. PFC and REC have already sanctioned about Rs. 1,35,500 Crore under the package and as on date, PFC & REC have disbursed Rs. 78,855 crore under the package.
