IB Thermal: In what could be termed as the beginning of a new era, OPGC is to receive its first ever consignment from Manoharpur coal mines of OCPL (a subsidiary Company of OPGC Ltd.) today.

The continuous efforts of OPGC management to activate coal transport from OCPL mines has borne fruit as the first consignment of coal was transported from ACB siding to OPGC plant using Indian Railways rake through (Road-cum-Rail) mode.  Director (Operations) Sri Manas Ranjan Rout today inaugurated the supply of first rake of coal from OCPL. Coal transportation from Manoharpur mines to ACB siding is being done by road-cum-rail mode and it has started on 6th June 2021.

With this, OPGC management is hopeful of resolving the ongoing coal quality issue to a great extent. Going forward, Coal supply quantity from OCPL mines is going to be ramped up gradually and finally, the required quantity of Coal will be transported from Monoharpur mines after the completion of OPGC owned merry-go-round railway system, which is nearing completion.

It is to be noted here that, there has been a continuous improvement in performance of power generating units of OPGC, especially in Unit-3 & unit 4 since the time State government has taken over the management control in the Company. Unit- 3 has run uninterruptedly for 172 days setting a new benchmark for the Company. In the month of May, Units 3 & 4 run uninterruptedly, thus  achieving highest PLF since COD with lowest heat rate.
