Municipal Corporation may stop cleaning in BCCL colonies

Dhanbad, August 7: The municipal corporation may quit cleaning BCCL’s colonies. The purpose behind this is they are not being paid the holding tax by BCCL. The municipal corporation is looking into the issue. It is not yet decided when to stop the cleaning work.

Corporation officials have begun a new exertion to recover the outstanding holding tax from BCCL. A letter from the BCCL management has been sent in this regard. The Municipal Commissioner has additionally affirmed this. Officials state that significantly after this, BCCL’s attitude on holding tax payment does not change, aside from stopping cleaning in the colonies, there will be no other choice.

The municipal corporation has been demanding handling tax from BCCL since 2017. During the tenure of the then Municipal Commissioner Rajiv Ranjan, the bank account of BCCL headquarters was freezed on this issue, which was again opened after 2 day of raging from the Koyla Bhavan to the capital of Jharkhand. At that time, the corporation had claimed Rs 300 crore as holding tax on BCCL. Against this claim, the BCCL management has approached the High Court and the case is pending in the court itself.
