Most of the state-run dicoms that have shown their interest in the PFC-REC loan facility are yet to receive the final approval from the respective state governments to file requests for loans.
Till June 24, initial letters of interest for an aggregate quantity of Rs 91,699-crore loans had received from discoms by the Centre, however final applications, supported by state governments, had been for only Rs 18,491 crore, and these belonged to just six states, according to reliable sources.
Any delay in the process of sanctioning and releasing the special Rs 90,000-crore loans could weaken the ability of the discoms to clear the power generators dues – dues increased to 72% year-on-year to Rs 1.06 lakh crore at the end of April. Over-dues or dues of more than 60 days to central-government thermal power plants were Rs 36,318 crore, while the dues of discoms to private players and renewable units were Rs 40,101 crore and Rs 8,410 crore at the end of April, respectively.
Under the Atmanirbhar Bharat package deal, the Centre had announced the liquidity injection scheme. In line with the documents reviewed through FE, p.c and REC, which will disburse the loans, have received formal requests from Andhra Pradesh’s discoms.
