The second wave of Covid-19 and the ongoing curfew restrictions have caused a huge loss of revenues to Madhya Pradesh Paschim Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company Limited (MPPKVVCL) in terms of bill collection.
The discom has recorded around 40% decline in its bill collection and recovery amount. Discom officials stated that April month’s bill collection and recovery amount has already gone down to as low as 60%.
The current month’s bill collection and recovery amount is around Rs100 crore as against Rs160 crore per month. A large number of consumers, especially commercial ones have either requested or decided to not pay the bill of the current month owing to the Covid-19 crisis situation and restrictions enforced by the administration.
Officials said that bill collection and recovery in areas such as Rajwada, Ada Bazar, Marothia Bazar, Sarafa, Imli Bazar, , Malwa Mill, Ambedkar Nagar, Khajrana, South Toda, Juni Indore, Kadav Ghat, Samajwadi Nagar, Chitawad, and Sirpur has declined to as low as 25%.
“These colonies fall under eight zones of Indore city circle and many of them have been declared as micro containment zones, and an amount of Rs15 crore is pending for April month’s bill,” pointed out officials.
