Fierce fire in JUVNL’s power grid, PVUNL 1.32 KVA breaker blasts

Ranchi, July 30: A fire broke out on Thursday at Jharkhand Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (JUVNL) power grid at Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (PVUNL), about 40km from the state capital under Ramgarh district.

It was getting around 4.30pm when the fire broke out. The fire caused a blast in the breaker of 1.32 lakh KVA of high tension power grid. Along with this, switch yard and MCB also gutted and the transformer also got affected.

Eye witnesses said the flames were rising more than 20 feet high causing panic among those present in the power grid and switchyard apart besides those present in PVUNL’s plant under construction.

The company must have lost in lakhs due to the fire which could be controlled in three hours after the effort of CISF fire brigade, which rushed to the spot as soon as it received the information.

According to engineers, the short circuit caused the blaze while PVUNL officials believe that the fire was caused by lightning.

Expressing concern over the incident, a locality resident said: “The fire has deprived the locality residents from power for at least two days.” Engineers said that along with power supply, water supply will also remain disrupted for two days in PTPS residential colony and CCL area.
