Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the formulation of exclusive subsidy policy for Urea produced through coal gasification route by Talcher Fertilizers Limited (TFL).
Pradhan in a tweet said that the landmark decision will help enhance the global competitiveness of our domestic urea sector, boost indigenous production of urea involving environment-friendly processes and help reduce urea imports to the tune of 12.7 LMT per annum.
“ Today’s decision will also prove to be a game changer in enhancing availability of fertilisers to farmers, creating jobs in eastern India and in providing further impetus to the socio-economic development of eastern states, like Odisha, Jharkhand and Bihar,” tweeted Pradhan.
Earlier the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has given its approval for the project.
The project shall improve availability of fertilizer to farmers’ thereby boosting development of eastern region and will save transport subsidy for supply of urea in eastern part of the country. It would assist in reducing Urea imports to the tune of 12.7 LMT per annum leading to savings in foreign exchange.
