Complete the construction of new washeries at the earliest: CIL Chairman

Dhanbad, August 8: In 49th Annual General Meeting (AGM) through the video conferencing, Coal India chairman cum Bharat Coking Coal Ltd. (BCCL) shareholder Pramod Agrawal, has instructed to complete the construction of new washeries and start them within the time bound. Coking coal should be produced by keeping a check with the demand, so that import of coal can be reduced.

The chairman said that instead of focusing on the old washeries, there is a need to complete the under-construction work of new washeries soon and meet the demand of the washed coal. He appreciated the work being done by BCCL under CSR to fight COVID-19 pandemic.

The chairman emphasized on increasing the company's productivity while remaining safe from coronavirus. Seven new coal washeries have been constructed at BCCL, of which two washeries have been commissioned. It has Dahibari Washery of 1.6 MTPA capacity and Patherdih Washery of 5.0 MPTA capacity. Both these washeries are among the seven new washeries that are under construction. The PG test for Patherdih Washeries has been done successfully. The annual profit and loss report of the company was presented to the shareholders by Company Secretary Bani Kumar Parui at the AGM held at Koyla Bhawan through video conferencing.

BCCL workers to be rehabilitated from fire affected areas by 2020, said CMD.

Presenting the company's progress report at the AGM, CMD PM Prasad said, a large part of BCCL is affected by fire and landslides. Work is going on under the Jharia Master Plan to remove people from here. He said that BCCL would rehabilitate all its employees from the fire affected area in the year 2020. For the better future of other families living in this area, BCCL is carrying out its responsibilities with other stakeholders like State Government, Railways, CMPDIL and others.

BCCL President cum Managing Director at the AGM, PM Prasad said, “the COVID-19 pandemic has made the situation challenging at the beginning of the financial year. Despite this, BCCL is moving forward. He said that BCCL is the only company of Coal India which has inaugurated two new washeries.”

He also added that he has a lot of expectations from the Damagoria (Kalyaneshwari) coal block and its mining-project report is under process in collaboration with CMPDIL. The company exploiting Jharia block for Coal Mines Methane (CMS) and moving forward in this with the help of CMPDIL, which will help to improve the company's conditions.

Prasad said that the Company promotes eco mining tourism and BCCL is the top mining industry in the field of eco restoration. The company has done a lot of work in the area of ​​eco restoration in closed mines. In the current financial year, the company has arranged visits for a large number of students from professional institutions, colleges and schools to such sites under Eco Mining Tourism. The company has done many other tasks to make various stakeholders aware. Pollution control is the main among them.

CMD said that the services and product quality of the company has improved significantly in comparison to the year 2018-19. There has been considerable improvement in grade confirmation percentage (third party sampling). It has improved 76.14 percent in 2019-2020 as compared to 65.91 percent in the year 2018-19.
