Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) is committed to restoring its mining operations to its pre-Covid production strategy, with the economy opening up in a phased manner.

Company Chairman and Managing Director N Sridhar held a high-level meeting here on Tuesday and set out a road map to bring the mining activity back to full capacity, which was significantly reduced due to coronavirus spread and subsequent lockdown.

“The SCCL has been supplying coal to power generating companies even during lockdown, but many other industries remained closed during the lockdown period. If the industries start functioning normally, we must be able to pump up production and supply lines to meet the sudden spurt in demand,” he told the officers. He also urged them to continue the physical distancing measures and maintain hygiene in the mining areas.

He also warned them that while coronavirus is expected to be active until July, monsoon rains may also have a bearing on coal production. He wanted strategies in place to overcome this problem. He then reviewed the mine-wise production plans, the removal of overload, and the transport of coal to the officials concerned.

The meeting was attended by Directors S Shankar, S Chandrashekhar, B Bhaskar Rao, N Balaram, Executive Director Coal Movement J Alwyn and Advisers DN Prasad, Surendra Pandey, GM Marketing Ravi Shankar, DGM Marketing NV Rajashekhar Rao.
