CIL & NLC to set up 46 new oxygen plants, will create almost 5,000 Oxygenated Beds

CIL & NLC to set up 46 new oxygen plants, will create almost 5,000 Oxygenated Beds – To lessen the shortage of oxygen during the second wave of Covid, Coal India Ltd is setting up 25 oxygen generation plants at Hospitals while another public area undertaking NLC India Ltd is setting up another 21 such plants, as per a note by the Ministry of Coal.

Coal India will spend around Rs 35 crore on this increase, while NLC India will spend about Rs 15 crore. The plants will be installed at public hospitals and hospital schools across eight States, prompting an expansion of 3,328 oxygenated beds by Coal India and 1,620 oxygenated beds by NLC India.

Coal India is building ten plants in Madhya Pradesh, six in Jharkhand, four in Maharashtra, and one each in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. The absolute production limit of 20 plants by Coal India will be 12,700 liters per minute. Four different plants will produce 750 cubic meters each hour, while one will be a topping off plant.
Essentially, NLC India is building nine plants in Tamil Nadu, four in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan each, and one in Odisha. The all out limit of NLC India’s plants will be 1,620 liters each moment, and each bed will be provided with 5 liters of oxygen per minute./BL
