Adani Power said on Wednesday that the Madhya Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission has approved the establishment of a 1,320 MW thermal power plant in Madhya Pradesh.

The Commission also approved the sale of all electricity from the plant to the state through the Pench Thermal Energy arm of Adani Power.

Pench Thermal Energy has signed an agreement with MP Power Management Company Ltd (MPPMCL) to purchase 1,320 MW of electricity on a long-term basis.

Power would be supplied from the new 1,320 MW power station to be set up with super critical technology on the basis of design , construction, finance, ownership and operation (DBFOO) by sourcing fuel from the coal connection allocated under the SHAKTI policy.

In a statement , the company stated that the said power purchase agreement had been duly approved by the MP Electricity Regulatory Commission.

This progress confirms the company's confidence in the long-term growth potential of the power sector and the role of thermal power in achieving the ambitious aim of Electricity for All, he added.

The company is confident that it will combine its proven project execution skills and accumulated expertise in operating and sustaining India's largest private sector power generation capacity, she added.
