MoEF&CC grants EC to Central Coalfields

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) has accorded environment clearance (EC) to Central Coalfields for expansion of Amrapali opencast coal mine in Chatra district of Jharkhand.

The capacity will be expanded from 14.4 million tpa to 20.16 million tpa in an ML area of 619.87 ha. The project will create employment for 650 people. The balance life of the mine is four years.

The total capital cost of the project is Rs 5136.15 crore. The cost of production is approximately Rs 881.75 per tonne. The CSR cost is Rs two per tonne.

The R&R cost, as per approved EPR, is Rs 21,080.00. Similarly, environment management cost is approximately Rs 1,22,004.50.
