Ranchi: Heavy Engineering Corporation Ltd (HEC) on Saturday bagged a Rs 527-crore-project for constructing a coal handling plant (CHP) on a turnkey basis at Magadh open cast project of Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) in Chatra.
The project involves planning, designing, construction, fabrication, erection, installation, testing and commissioning of a coal handling plant of 20 million tonne per annum capacity. The period of completion of the project is two years and HEC will be responsible for undertaking operation and maintenance of the
plant for a period of five years.
“We have a very capable team of engineers and we have decided to take up the challenge of completing all work related to the CHP project as per schedule,” HEC director (marketing and production) Rana S Chakravarty told TOI.
He said, “Even in this pandemic, HEC has been bagging orders. Barring the Magadh CHP, our current work order book now stands at Rs 1,800 crore.”
HEC sources revealed that in this current financial year, HEC has already bagged two prestigious orders for constructing coal handling plants at Block B in Singrauli, (Madhya Pradesh) of Northern Coalfields Limited with a total order value of Rs 167 crore and at Gevra project of South Eastern Coalfields Limited
in Chhattisgarh with a total order value of Rs 615 crore.
The Magadh CHP is the third order for HEC in a row. HEC is presently executing another coal handling plant project of four million tonne per annum capacity for Northern Coalfields Ltd at Krishnashila in Uttar Pradesh which is on the verge of completion.
