A decline of 11% in production reported by Coal India in April

State-owned Coal India Ltd (CIL) reported a decrease of 11 per cent in production to 40,38 million tons in April. 

The company registered a total production of 45.30 million tons ( MT) in the corresponding month of the previous financial year, according to CIL in the BSE event. 

Of the 40.38 MT produced last month, CIL arm Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL) produced a maximum of 11.53 MT followed by South Eastern Coalfields Ltd (SECL) 9.30 MT and Northern Coalfields Ltd (NCL) 8.73 MT, among others. 

Coal India, which accounts for more than 80 per cent of domestic coal production, has an output of 710 million tons in the current financial year.
