Ranchi, August 25: Tana Bhagats, who are known as followers of Gandhi, have stopped supply of coal from CCL mines in Piparwar and district administration is finding itself unable to convince them for the last eight days.
A locality resident informed this saying today Bhagats want compensation for their land while the district administration claim that compensation issued has already been settled in 2011 and those agitating have not eligible for compensation.
Barkagaon MLA Amba Prasad and Chatra MLA Kishun Das are making all attempts to convince them but so far remained unsuccessful.
“They are only 75 in numbers but as they are regarded as true followers of Mahatma Gandhi district administration do not dare to touch them. Politics are also going on taking their protest while work of coal dispatch from Rajdhar Siding from where coal produced from Amrapali mines are dispatched is completely stopped,” the resident said.
A CCL employee supported the fact.
“Due to hindrances caused by Tana Bhagats with support of some politicians, CCL has been losing opportunity to dispatch about 60,000 tes/day from Amrapali mines, which has already resulted in loss of opportunity to the state to earn about 2.31 crore as royalty , DMF, NMET and management fees besides GST. Further, if the hindrance continues, both CCL and state will be losing heavily on account of revenue collection,” the CCL employee said.
Deputy Commissioner of the district Divyanshu Kumar Jha confirmed the problem saying effort is on to end their strike. “Legislator Sita Soren was expected to meet agitator and find some proper solution but she could not make it happen today,” Jha said.
