Energy department’s request gets positive response from German-state owned KfW for promoting low carbon technologies and energy efficient projects
Vijayawada, August 24: The state government has been taking significant steps to improve energy efficiency as a part of its objective to bring affordable, quality and sustainable energy to all its citizens and industrial sector, and for that it has sought assistance of global agency KfW, which has, in a conference call with Energy secretary Srikant Nagulapalli, responded positively to Energy department’s request. The secretary later informed AP of the decision to implement certain energy efficient and energy conservation programs with the support of the Union Ministry of Power led Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE).
In a letter to the Energy Department, the KfW said about AP progressing reasonably in identifying opportunities of implementing different energy efficiency measures in several sectors like rural water supply, MSMEs, domestic, municipal and agriculture sectors.
“The KfW and AP government share a common objective of the judicious use of electricity and promotion of energy efficiency and demand side management”, the KfW said.
Separately, the Energy Department of AP had also requested support of the German development agency GIZ for technical support in energy research, development and training.
“As part of energy conservation and energy efficiency measures, the power utilities have been striving hard towards reduction of technical losses in transmission, distribution and generation sectors. The further reduction of technical losses in a cost-effective manner and finding solutions for technical problems are the biggest challenge”, the Energy Secretary said.
