Bikaner, Churu and Jhunjhunu farmers are applying for higher remuneration for securing their land to build an electric tower as a piece of the transmission line venture for Adani gathering. They griped that the private contract workers are making up a solitary Rs 10,000 to 15,000 for the establishment of a tower by the private contractual workers. Be that as it may, they are requesting a Rs 1 lakh to 1.5 lakh remuneration measure for each tower to be built.
Farmers’ leader Himmat Singh, who is the convenor of Kisan Sangharsh Samiti, said, “Farmers have started to protest against the building of towers for the 765-kV transmission line project and not properly compensate them. The towers are being constructed between Bikaner and Khetri (in Jhunjhunu) by Adani group-owned Bikaner-Khetri Transmission Limited, which is set up to execute the 765 kV transmission line project. This is affecting about 3,000 farmers.”
“Farmers of Malpura, Kishorpura, Kithana, Shyampura, Jita and Ka bass in Jhunjhunu are opposing the implementation of the project. So far, around 400 towers have been installed already. About 6,000-7,000 towers will be installed under the project,” he added.
“The SDM is looking into the issue of the farmers’ demands. The matter is under investigation. Details in this regard are awaited.” Jhunjhunu Collector UD Khan said.
Hawa Singh of Malpura (Jhunjhunu), said, “The government should not acquire our land without fixing our compensation at market value. Only after this, the towers will be allowed to be installed. The private company is taking away our land and there is no interference from the government.”
“The private contractors are compensating the farmers with Rs 10,000 and Rs 20,000. However, according to the norms, Rs 1-1.5 lakh must be compensated to the farmers for each tower.” Another farmer Rakesh Bishnoi said.
